The 2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty pickups are featuring many firsts in the industry. Another one is something that could be seen as science fiction.

Because of this advanced new truck, Adaptive Steering is now a reality.

How Adaptive Front Steering works is that it eliminates fixed steering ratios seen on current systems. The steering system compromises when it had to do a low-speed maneuver, such as getting out of a tight parking space or to position a trailer onto a launch. To compensate the driver has to work harder to maneuver the vehicle in these situations, forcing the steering set to overwork to accomplish the task.

Adaptive Steering eliminates the overwork in these situations. It works through the compromises and enables the driver to easily complete the maneuver with ease. The system actually increases the angle of the wheels to accomplish the task. The driver will experience lesser effort at the steering wheel when turning lock-to-lock - an elimination of up to one revolution of the wheel.

This technology is not only available on the F-Series Super Duty pickup. It will also be available on the Ford Edge SUV. That is great news for Edge customers, too!
