Â
You may have heard of Jeremy Clarkson.
Â
He is, in short, the most popular automotive journalist in the world. He has been the longtime co-host and contributor to the BBC's "Top Gear" and will appear in the brand new show "The Grand Tour" on Amazon Prime later this year. Clarkson also writes a column in The Sunday Times back in Great Britain. That has been his primary job for the past 20 years.
Â
We heard that when Clarkson speaks - millions listen…or read. When he loves a car, we mostly agree. When he hates a car - and in proper context - the world knows about it.
Â
In a recent column in The Sunday Times, Clarkson listed the best cars I had driven over the past 12 months. Out of his best ten vehicles, two of them happen to be Fords. They are the Mustang GT and the Focus RS.
Â
The Focus RS spoke to Clarkson as he was a former owner of a similar hot hatch back in Britain - the Escort RS Cosworth. As for the modern day version of this iconic hot hatch, Clarkson wrote: "its 345bhp (EU standard) is enough to provide a meaty shove in the back when you accelerate." The Focus RS comes with all-wheel drive with a turbocharged 2.3 liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine.
Â
Â
In Britain, the Ford Mustang was re-introduced with the steering wheel on the other side of the car (sorry, Mr. Clarkson, it is not on the "proper side," as you say.). He loved the GT the same way his "Grand Tour" co-host Richard Hammond loves Mustangs in general. Of the Mustang GT, Clarkson wrote "this machine wants to turn its (tires) into smoke and go round every corner sideways. You've seen the film 'Bullitt.' Well, it's that." With its 5.0 liter V8 and independent rear suspension, the Mustang GT is equipped for maximum performance for every day driving.
Â
The team at Suburban Ford of Sterling Heights applaud Mr. Clarkson - or, would he rather be called Jezza - for choosing wisely these two great Fords as his 10 Best models of the past 2 months. Our customers love choosing wisely and may want to take up Clarkson's invitation to check out these two performance machines that have become his favorites.Â
