For Ford owners with vehicles equipped with SYNC3, they can now start using another way to use our infotainment system.

This month saw the downloading of additional connections for users of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to the SYNC3 system. These two systems enable their respective smartphones to be plugged into SYNC3 to use select apps from their devices. All one needs is to connect their smartphone to one of the USB ports in their vehicles.

Once the phone is detected to their respective system, their touchscreen will show the main screens from their phones. From there, owners can play their music through apps, such as Apple Music or Pandora, make their calls, check messages, and get directions through Apple or Google Maps. However, an owner can return back to SYNC3 to use Ford's own navigation and media services.

For 2016, SYNC3 is available on the Ford Focus, Escape, Mustang, C-Max, Fiesta, Edge, Flex, Expedition, F-150 and Transit. More models will get the SYNC3 for 2017 - including the new Fusion and F-Series Super Duty. Stop by Suburban Ford of Sterling Heights to check out SYNC3 and see how it works with a smartphone. We can also assist in setting up SYNC3 and the phone.
